Originating in Japan, Reiki is a healing technique used to promote relaxation and help reduce stress. It is based in the premise that we are attuned to energy or qi that flows around us and within us. When we are experiencing mental or emotional strain, Reiki can be used as a tool to reset our internal balance.

Stress and anxiety can take a huge toll on our mental and physical health. Receiving a Reiki "attunement" when we are experiencing a disruption to our well-being can feel calming, meditative, and even therapeutic.
It has been known to aid clients who suffer from insomnia, headaches, and physical injuries. It has even been used effectively for palliative care for patients in hospice.
Reiki has been shown to be more effective than the placebo effect in promoting relaxation and activating the parasympathetic nervous system. (McManus, 2017)
Reiki is not a method to replace modern medicine or treat injuries which require medical attention. It is a complementary treatment which aids in your body's ability to heal more effectively when your energy is not being exhausted from the stress that accompanies the injury.
